17th & Broadway
Overview
17th & Broadway was an experiment of sorts. Individual requests for images were taking too many server resources and had too much impact on page load times. Since SVGs are heavily used on most Studio by Engrain sites, me and the rest of the development team decided to implement a new way of embedding SVGs at the server level to be loaded on the page instead of using image elements. Our experiment turned out successful, reducing both the load on the server and the amount of time it took to render a page.
